Pro Scooter FAQs
Straight answers on complete scooters, street and park setups, decks, wheels, compatibility, custom builds, shipping and more. No generic sales talk — just practical advice from people who actually ride and support the scene.
What size scooter should I buy?
The right complete scooter size depends on the rider’s height, experience and riding style. As a guide, the bars should usually sit around hip to lower-waist height when standing on the deck.
Shorter or younger riders generally suit smaller completes. Taller riders need higher bars and often feel more comfortable on a longer deck.
Send us the rider’s height, age and experience and we’ll help narrow it down.
Shop complete scootersWhat’s the difference between a beginner scooter and a pro scooter?
A beginner scooter is made for learning the basics. A pro scooter uses stronger, higher-quality components designed for skatepark and street riding.
Pro scooters normally include sealed headsets, stronger forks, proper compression, aluminium decks and replaceable parts, so they ride better and can be upgraded.
What is the best scooter for street riding?
A strong street scooter usually has a wider and longer deck, taller bars, durable wheels and solid compression.
Street riders commonly choose 6" to 7" wide decks for more stability and grind space. Tilt, North, Prey, Native and Aztek all make proven street-focused options.
Shop street scooter decksWhat is the best scooter for park riding?
Park riders generally prefer a lighter scooter with a narrower deck and faster handling. That makes tricks like tailwhips, barspins and aerial combinations easier.
A park setup is usually the better choice for ramps, bowls, flyouts and competition-style riding.
Which scooter deck should I buy?
The best scooter deck depends on how you ride:
- 5"–5.5": lighter park setups
- 5.8"–6.2": versatile park and street riding
- 6.5"–7": dedicated street riding and maximum grind space
Taller riders and street riders also tend to prefer longer decks for extra foot room and stability.
Browse scooter decksHow often should I replace scooter wheels?
Replace your scooter wheels when they become flat-spotted, cracked, chipped, dehubbed or lose grip.
Rough, noisy or slow-spinning wheels may only need fresh bearings, but badly worn urethane means it is time for new wheels.
Shop scooter wheelsWhat hardness scooter wheels should I use?
Most freestyle scooter wheels sit around 88A hardness, giving a good mix of grip, speed and durability.
Softer wheels usually feel smoother and grippier. Harder wheels can feel faster but less forgiving on rough ground.
What is the difference between 24mm and 30mm scooter wheels?
24mm wheels are the most common and are generally lighter.
30mm wheels have more urethane, giving extra grip, stability and durability. They are especially popular with street riders.
Check that your fork and deck support the wheel width and diameter before ordering.
What scooter compression system do I need?
- SCS: extremely strong and popular for street and all-round riding
- HIC: strong, simple and lighter than SCS
- IHC: common on complete scooters and lighter setups
- ICS: an older system still found on some scooters
Your bars, fork and clamp must match your compression system. Send us a photo if you are unsure.
Are scooter parts universal?
No. Pro scooter parts are not always universal. Compatibility can depend on bar diameter, compression type, fork standard, wheel width, wheel diameter, axle size and deck clearance.
Contact us before ordering if you are unsure. We would rather help you get it right the first time.
Can you help me build a custom scooter?
Absolutely. Custom builds are one of our favourite parts of the job.
Whether you want a lightweight park scooter, a heavy-duty street build or a colour-matched setup, we can help you choose compatible parts that suit your riding and budget.
Explore custom scootersDo you assemble custom scooters?
